Employee Experience...Driver For Digital Transformation

As a term, Employee experience has gained much attention in the previous 5-10 years. It started to become important in the human resources management era.

 

It can be defined as the total amount of perceptions of employees have about the organization that they are working at.

 

Moreover, is the employee's holistic perception of the relationship with their employing organization derived from all the encounters at touchpoints along the employee's journey.(1)

It refers to everything an employee experiences at workplace.It's a holistic term that considers the full spectrum of an employee's experiences throughout their entire time at a company(2).

Employee experience constitutes the entire journey an employee takes with your organization. This includes everything from pre-hire to post-exit interactions and everything in between.(3)

As one of the newest approaches/dimensions of HR, it plays a crucial role in retaining employees, employee motivation and as a result, achieving organizational goals.

Employee Experience is not(4):

*New/improved HR

*Perks and Parties

*Employer or Employee Branding

*Treating employees as customers

*Employee Engagement

There are three main factors to be underlined in order to maintain sustainable employee experience,in other words(5):

As a formula, employee experience is equal to the sum of culture,technology and physical space(environment).

This means that culture,technology and physical space are artifacts of employee experience.

Employee experience is also not employee wellbeing. It is the work complexity and behavioral norms that influence employees' ability to create value(6).

With the help of sustainable employee experience strategy and by implementing the following practices, employee experience may result with successfull conditions,results:

*Employee trust

*Company's attempt and vision for getting to know it's employees

*By using onboarding for new employees, work-life balance programmes, incentive systems,talent and management systems,feedback mechanisms on performance development, using digital in HR, employee engagement can be fostered

*Organizational structure and climate where cooperation, teamwork,collaboration is emphasized

*User-centered or design thinking approach is pointed out for personal creativity and innovation

*Using metrics and KPI's in order to provide balanced performance understanding.

On the other hand, digital transformation changes everything. Big part of digital transformation is about transforming your human capital.

Digital transformation is an ongoing process where an organization adapt to or drive disruptive changes in their customers,markets by leveraging digital competencies to innovate new business models,products or services.

In order to leverage digital competencies for adaptation, human capital of the organization should also transform.

With digital transformation, employee experience also acts as the driver or factor for success.

Because;

1. Right Talent is Right Technology

2. Customer experience or customer journey also needs employee experience for sustainable transformation process

3. Without understanding,analyzing employees' perceptions and journey towards

Digital transformation is a complex process where it changes the way people work, businessprocesses, in sum changing the management style,culture,strategy.

In other words, transformation changes business life realities.

While the transformation and it's emerging technologies has transformed the demands and expectations of customers,in other words,customer experience and customer journey, at the same time it also transforms the demands,perceptions and expectations of employees.

If managers of the organizations want to be successfull and reach their goals in digital transformation journey, first of all, they need to give great importance to their employees's journey in the organization.
