AI Trends in Recruitment and Training (2019,2020)

Nowadays HR is evolving.... HR is transforming. Under innovative trends and with the effect of emerging technologies which are part of digital transformation, it is moving beyond its base functionality of recruitment,selection,training management,talent management and other standard functions,processes.

These processes are still important to the HR Technology or HR Software architecture, but more advanced tools are emerging.

I believe AI is and will be the game changer for HR in 2019 and 2020.

Lets'have a look at some of the AI trends for HR in 2019 and 2020 from my point of view:

A 2018 LinkedIn survey revealed how AI is poised to influence recruiting. Seventy-six percent of hiring managers and recruiters think the impact will be at least "somewhat significant."

The survey showed that with %58 candidate sourcing, %56 candidate screening, %55 nrturing candidates and at last with %42 scheduling candidates as top four areas where AI will be the most valuable areas(1).

I assume this results also support the idea that for many organizations the first pilots or prototype projects of AI in HR are in recruitment, talent acquisition. In this HR process, the HR Managers and also the top executives of organizations project measurable and immediate results in recruitment and talent management efficiency and productivity as a whole process.

Recruitment is a critical process for organization. With the help of AI, HR department has a chance to serve customized recruitment experiences where both HR and candidate benefits.

According to a survey of talent acquisition leaders, 56% say their hiring volume will increase this year, but 66% of recruiting teams will either stay the same size or contract.This means that recruiters are being tasked to do more with less.

In 2019, finding top talent will depend on a recruiter's ability to intelligently automate their workflow(2).

Morevover, HR chatbots, specifically designed for recruitment purposes and which are AI-powered enables to bring agility to recruitment's pre-screening process and become the  current ''mobile,friendly and personalized'' part. 

These chatbots also enrich the candidate experience process and  a survey by Allegis shows that %66 of candidates applying to different positions at different companies are comfortable for interacting with these recruitment chatbots(3).

 

Here are some of the subprocesses of recruitment which I believe will take much more important place when talking about AI-Recruitment integration:

  • Automation in Candidate Sourcing

  • Sustaining effectiveness in matching candidates

  • Recruitment process of remote employees

  • Facial Expression Analysis

For training management, AI may be crucial for completing employee or department or team skill,competency gaps,supported with gamification,robust analytics,dashboard tracking, corporate training experience can be modified in terms of individual needs and AI in training may act as the facilitator for interesting,joyful,transfer oriented and effective training activities. By the help of dashboards and Training Analytics, learning objectives of the corporate training programmes can be matched and integrated with organization's development and HR strategies and goals.

Thanks to a familiar interface and the ability to access it easily from mobile devices,employee's training experience will become more customized,personalized.

As AI and other emerging technologies continue to disrupt the workplace, it is very crucial for HR departments to embrace both these emerging technologies, AI and also the human side of HR to attract and retain candidates.

As short-term predictions from my point of view:

1. AI will carry on helping HR in making the recruitment process easier, quicker

2. AI will make onboarding process more effective

3. AI will personalize employee competency development

4. AI wil act as the predictor of employee engagement level and employee's attrition rate.

5. AI will be the facilitator for effective,personalized,gamified training sessions.

6. Moreover, According to a report (4), AI-driven HR Technology innovations wil increase by %35.
